This position is responsible for providing safe, effective, and empowering classes for participants of all levels. The instructor also provides leadership while educating, monitoring, and encouraging class participants; communicates with supervisory staff regularly; attends continuing education workshops, classes, or seminars to stay current with the dance and/or circus industries.
Looking for a Trapeze teacher who can teach beginning to advance on single point (dance trapeze) and static trapeze to students ages 6 - adult in a recreational and training program setting. Additional teaching is possible pending skills.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provide adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down in an organized manner.
Instruct participants on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises; identify different muscle groups used, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
Safely and effectively spot and supervise pole moves to students. Use crash mats and spotting techniques until both student and instructor are comfortable with the move.
Prepare appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class. This includes setting up
equipment, preparing for a class/private/series/workshop/rental, and checking clientele.
Check class rosters for any changes and medical history of students.
Model, promote, and enforce policies and procedures in group fitness activity areas and throughout the studio.
Keep management informed of customer and studio needs.
Ensure that safety standards are met, and the studio policies are adhered to.
Greet participants warmly, enthusiastically, and by name, and maintain an atmosphere that motivates long-term participation and retention.
Meet studio attendance minimums to hold classes, series, events, and workshops.
Responsible for own class coverage when unable to attend. Inform the supervisor of vacation plans and who will be substituting at least 2 weeks in advance.
Clean and maintain studio equipment; leave the studio prepared for the next class. Must store
equipment properly and clean the studio (sweep/dry mop, clean mirrors, clean equipment, etc.) as necessary.
Recognize and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies. Provide proper emergency care (first aid/CPR) when necessary. Complete all required paperwork for incidents.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
